Use of Conjunctions.

A conjunction is a word that is used to connect words, phrases, and clauses.


Types of Conjunctions:

Coordinating Conjunctions:  It is used to join words, phrases, and clauses

Ex:    For, and, nor, but, or, yet, so.

For: explains the reason.

And   :it adds one to another similar one.

Nor  :It adds a negative idea to an existing negative idea.

But  :shows the contrast.

Or  :shows an alternative to the existing positive alternative.

Yet  :shows a contrasting idea to an existing idea.

So  :shows a result or consequence of an event.

For  :  I bought this mango, for I was hungry. (For: explains the reason.)

And  :  I take milk and sugar in tea. ( adds one to another similar one)

Nor  : He was not here on Monday, nor on Tuesday.(adds a negative idea to an existing negative

                idea)
